I just love philippians 4. The verses have really spoken to me lately as some things in my life are out of my control and I am not liking the outcome. But I will rejoice and pray and think about true things and guess what, I get peace! I hope these verses will bless you and your home as much as they bless me.

Overwhelmed
It seems like I keep running into people that are stepping back from commitments because they are overwhelmed and have too much on their plates. While I think we can all get ourselves overcommitted pretty fast and we do need to make sure our priorities are in check, I also wonder if we are worrying too much about tomorrow and not relying on God's strength to get us through each day. This morning I read in my Jesus Calling Devotional by Sarah Young.
"DO NOT LET any set of circumstances intimidate you. The more challenging your day, the more of My Power I place at your disposal. you seem to think that I empower you equally each day, but this is not so. Your tendency upon awakening is to assess the difficulties ahead of you, measuring them against your average strength. This is an exercise in unreality. I know what each of yours days will contain, and I empower you accordingly. The degree to which I strengthen you on a given day is based mainly on two variables: the difficulty of your circumstances, and your willingness to depend on Me for help. Try to view challenging days as opportunities to receive more of My Power than usual. Look to Me for all that you need, and watch to see what I will do. As your day, so shall your strength be.
EPHESIAN 1:18-20, PSALM 105:4, DEUTERONOMY 33:25"
I just love Psalm 105:5, Seek the Lord and his strength; seek his presence continually!

Advent Printable
I saw this great blog post the other day for an advent reading scheduled that followed the Jesus Story Book Bible. So I went to work and design a cute printable for each day that has the bible story as well as the bible verses. I am excited to do this with my family and look forward to the added visual for the kids as we read the story.

let the little children come to me
After reading several books on Spiritual parenting, I have come to feel the need to pray scripture blessings over my children. In Mark 10:13-16, we see how differently Jesus responds to children than the disciples.
People were bringing little children to Jesus for him to place his hands on them, but the disciples rebuked them. When Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, “Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these. 1Truly I tell you, anyone who will not receive the kingdom of God like a little child will never enter it.” And he took the children in his arms, placed his hands on them and blessed them.
These verses and this images lingers over and over in my mind. My husband and I have started praying scripture blessings over our children. The first time we laid hands and our 10 year old son and prayed, his smile looked like he got the best present ever. A few nights later, both kids wanted to pray blessings over my husband and I. While many nights we forget this, and I am looking forward to the days when it becomes a nighttime habit. I long for my children to carry on this nighttime tradition when they become parents and for many generations to come.
I created the scripture design to be hung in the hallway outside my daughters room as a reminder to pray the blessings. These are available to purchase from my Dwellart Store

Muffin Mama
Remember the song, Do you know the muffin man, the muffin man, the ... stuck in your head yet? These days, I have been thinking of myself as the muffin mama. I am really loving making batches of muffins for my kids to have in their cold lunch for school. I often make a couple batches on Sunday and put them in the freezer. During the week, at least a couple days a week, they just take a couple muffins out of the freezer, add a veggie and some fruit, maybe a cheese stick and their lunch is packed.
In my muffin marathon baking sessions, I started with the traditional metal muffin tin and they were sticking pretty bad and terribly hard to clean. I left the pan in the sink for a couple days to soak, but that seemed to really annoy my husband. So plan B was to start using paper muffins liners. This helped but I hated how much muffin stuck to the paper liner. Then, I was shopping at Aldi's and saw the silicon muffin pans for 2.99. I bought one and went right home to test it out. The muffins came out perfectly and you do not even need to spray them. Yes, I went back and bought two more so I could make my weekend muffin baking session. Oh, did I mention how great they cleaned. Amazing little things. Here is the recipe from comfybelly.com
